The Apple Cardigan | Pattern Testing Review

Today’s Review is about the BellaSunshine Designs pattern. I was recently selected to test the new Apple Cardigan. The timing couldn’t have been better as I am taking part in the #cosycardichallenge . As a member of BSD pattern testing group, I am part of the Photography Rockstar phase. This basically means all the pattern technical, sizing, instruction updates have been made through rigorous testing by Phase 1 & 2 testers.

I used the Varsity Club Jacquard Fabric 59″-Tattersall from Joann’s. This fabric has a really nice hand and good recovery. It’s ideal for fall weather and layering to stay nice and warm.

The Apple Cardigan is a sleek design with slight pleat effect in the back. The neckline has a band and comes in two lengths as does the cardigan. There is a tunic or knee length option, with obvious curve to enhance the coziness of the bellowing skirt half of this pattern.

The overall feel of this cardigan to me is that of a mock coat, if you make the knee length version. Which is what I went for and I am extremely happy with the outcome. I honestly love making this cardigan, it took approximately 4 hours to complete and I can’t wait to make a few in solid colors.

I cut a size 6, and was surprised that I didn’t have to make any alteration. I am 5’9’’ just to give you some idea of the sizing compared to me. It’s a great pattern, the design is to my liking and a flash to make.

I’ve never made a cardigan until taking part in the #cosycardichallenge . Cardi’s keep you warm, so I guess I’ll be making more!!!

Thank you! I know you will love it. I can’t wait to to try the tunic length. It’s always interesting to see how different fabric creates variations of the same pattern. It would be nice to see how yours turned out. If you don’t mind, please tag me on IG.

It’s so awesome, I really love it. I’m so not a cardigan person, but over the last year they’ve been growing on me and I’m truly like how they add warmth without the bulk.

I love long cardigans for that coat kind of look! What’s the fiber content on your knit? That big skirt is definitely a dramatic design for a cardigan!

Hi Elizabeth, Here is the Content: 55% Polyester/40% Cotton/5% Spandex. I’m not sure if it’s at all Joann’s but it available online.
