What to Make? So Many Options, not enough time!

As a veteran participant of the #dayandnightdresschallenge, I found it difficult to nail down two specific dresses. Habitually for challenges such as I these, I choose my fabric first. If no RTW inspiration piques my interest. I credit my indecisiveness to the terrible Wisconsin weather. By nature I’m a person that makes a decision on the spot and never go back, due to my tendency to procrastinate. As I sit writing this post, I’ll be browsing my favorite high-end boutique for inspiration! This is the moment, I set my goal.

Coffee Dress

Well! That didn’t take as long as I expected. I had every intention to visit Nieman Marcus, but wanting to peruse BurdaStyle my daily stomping ground for instant fashion satisfaction.  How perfect is this Shift Dress 08/2017 #111A.

This dress is ideal for the challenge; the day dress should reflect something to be worn on a coffee date or a meet-up with friends at your favorite Cafe or Tea house. Now that this is my dress of choice, I hope it will compliment my physique.

My fabric is from the stash, it’s a tropical floral green stretch sateen.

Cocktail Dress

For this challenge, I’m looking for a dress that shows effort, detail and intricacy. I found a few inspiration from anthropologie.

These patterns are pretty comparable to the designs above and if not they can totally be hacked.

Then I happen to chance upon this dress at Neiman Marcus. Thank heavens it’s an inspo, because with a price tag of $3,495.00 I have no hope of owning the original.

My embroidery silk from India will be perfect there’s just one catch,  will it work for the design I choose.

Its definitely scratchy, so I’ll need an underlining or lining to protect my skin. There will be two beautiful dresses at the end of February, so I better get moving!  With a busy schedule of remodeling my bathroom, I’ll be rendered sleepless during February 🙂

It does seem an interesting challenge thinking about wearing brocade amidst bathroom remodels, but this is real life, LOL! I love the coffee dress. The fabric is so fun and the pattern looks like it jumped out of the Boden catalog! The Cynthia Rowley pattern definitely looks like a good base, though the skirt is a little fuller than the Anthropologie if you take off the flounces, but as you say, it’s a good start for a hack. I’m so excited seeing people’s plans. Things are coming together nicely!
